DepHUB's Shamira Ahmed contributes to 2024 Policy Network on AI (PNAI) Policy Brief

The AI Governance We Want, Call to Action: Liability, Interoperability, Sustainability, & Labour

The Policy Network on Artificial Intelligence (PNAI) addresses policy matters related to the governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The primary goal is to foster dialogue, exchange practices and contribute to the global AI policy discourse.

PNAI is a global multistakeholder effort hosted by the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, bringing together data governance experts, stakeholders and changemakers from across the world. It provides an open platform to share and develop expertise, insights, and recommendations.

A Report was developed to outline the 2024 work conducted by the PNAI highlighting key findings, sharing outcomes, and presenting policy recommendations on four key topics:

  • Liability as a mechanism for supporting AI accountability

  • Environmental sustainability within the Generative AI value chain

  • AI governance, interoperability, and good practices

  • Labour issues throughout AI’s life cycle

The report and its recommendations were discussed on December 17th 2024 at the 19th annual IGF meeting in Riyadh and online.

The DepHUB's Shamira Ahmed is a PNAI multistakeholder expert and co-lead of this Report.

The session recording can be viewed on the IGF YouTube Channel.
