DepHUB contributes to two submissions for the UN Global Digital Compact

In April 2023, DepHUB was a signatory to two submissions to the Global Digital Compact (GDC).
One was informed by participatory online dialogues hosted by the DepHUB on "African Dialogues on Transnational AI Governance for the GDC", the second was as a World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) ally, with other signatories, where the DepHUB provided inputs to the WBA's submission.

Between 22nd February and 9th March 2023, the DepHUB hosted a series of "African Dialogues on Transnational AI Governance for the Global Digital Compact (GDC)" , which were aimed at:

  1. Formulating multidisciplinary collective African voices, values, interests, visions, concerns, and expectations that should become part of the increasingly global discussion on responsible AI (RAI);

  2. Just public data value creation;

  3. Sustainable digital development; and ,

  4. Promotion of digital public goods (DPGs).

In addition, as an World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) ally, with other signatories, the DepHUB provided inputs to the WBA's GDC submission. The Submission addressed four key priorities:

  1. Universal Internet access

  2. Human rights online

  3. Ethical AI, and 

  4. Data Protection
